Tuesday July 13, 2010. Traveled from Watson Lake to Whitehorse which was about 270 miles. Much easier driving today as the mountains were not as high and the roads were very good. We stopped in a town named Tesilin on our drive to Whitehorse. They have a bridge over the Tesilin River that is advertised as the longest bridge in the Yukon. I have posted a picture of it which is not so amazing but the view coming into the town was breath taking. We talked to a mechanic in Watson Lake last night and he told us he was sure our wiper motor is burned out. He said to get in touch with a diesel service in Whitehorse that services Freightliners. We called on our way to Whitehorse and talked to a guy and he assured us that they would get us in to take care of all our issues on motor home. We got to Whitehorse around 2:30 this afternoon and drove right to the service center. The owner talked with Larry and said he did not have a part and furthermore he would not replace it if he did as the motor is part of Forest River's coverage rather than Freightliner. We came on into town and checked in at the RV Campground and the lady here told us to take it to the Kenworth Center and she was sure they would take care of us. We drove on down to center and the guy was very nice and said for us to contact Forest River tomorrow to get the part sent and he would install it. We have a contact at the Forest River factory in Elkhart, IN (USA) so Larry will contact him tomorrow. Since we will probably be staying here a few days we are thinking of driving down to Skagway, Alaska as it is only about 95 miles from Whitehorse. The RV Park is really nice and clean and MODERN--with Internet even!! We have not seen much of Whitehorse yet but it appears to be a great city. It is actually the capitol of The Yukon Territory. We had no wildlife viewings today. Guess yesterday was an overload on wildlife. Had a very pleasant drive from Watson Lake today. Before we left, I had to take a picture of a motel near the campground where we parked last night. When we first drove by it I thought it was just an old boarded up motel then I realized there were actually people staying in it and I laughed so hard as I could not believe it. I had to walk up there this morning before we left to take a picture which I will post for your viewing pleasure!!!! This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We have traveled many miles on the motorcycles over the years and seen so many beautiful sights but there are always more sights to be seen in this world. When we left Watson Lake this morning it was raining lightly but as the day progressed it was about 62 degrees and sunny. That was a good thing since we have no windshield wipers currently.
