Day 3 - Trip to Alaska

Today is Wednesday July 7, 2010. We left Wall, SD this morning at 8:15am traveling on RT 90 West. The scenery is becoming more interesting at least. It seems such a long boring drive from home until you make it through SD. Today was a little cooler after the storm yesterday. We keep running into construction but at least the traffic is moving. There is nothing worse than setting for an hour in a line of traffic backed up for miles. We are starting to see more elevation and the rocks are very unusual. We just traveled this route last year when we took our motorcycle trip through Canada and down through the Glacier Mountains so nothing is especially surprising but still a nice change of scenery from the flat lands of Illinois. Tucker(our youngest cat) has taken up the job of riding 'shotgun'. From the moment we left Peoria, he staked his seat out which is a padded ledge next to the passenger chair. It is the perfect size for him to either sit on and look out the window or stretch out on and take a snooze. The snooze is #1 on his 'To Do List'. I have never seen animals sleep for so many hours as our cats do. The other two cats hang out in the bedroom most of the day while we travel. Tucker also makes sure no one comes near his area of the motor home or near my lap as he also splits his time between his staked out perch and stretched out on my lap. Very little bothers his nape time. We traveled to a little area called Gerryowen, MT where we found a very nice RV park which is on a ranch. We saw the RV Park as we were traveling on RT 90. To reach it we had to travel on a side road which actually ran into a gravel road. Was very dusty getting there and the road back into RV park was gravel and also pretty dusty. Once at the RV park, however, everything was very nice with full hook-ups and very nicely manicured. The name of the RV park was 7th Ranch. Cats got outside for first time since we left home. They look forward to getting outside but of course they must be on their leash's which cramps their style a little.
