We left Mile 0 RV Park this morning, Sunday July 11 at 9:50. Larry took the car off and drove it over to a car wash that was near the campground and washed it. I told him it was useless to do that as he washed the car and motor home when we were in Grand Prairie 3 days ago and the minute we drove out of campground, they were both full of dust again. When we left the campground we went up to fill up with diesel. When Larry gave the clerk the credit card, it was rejected. We scrambled to come up with $180 in cash. He was mad because it was run by an Indian and he said he probably purposely did something so it would be rejected. We drove down the road and pulled into a Huffy station and he went in and used the ATM to check on our accounts and to get more cash. As we were driving from Dawson Creek today his phone rang and it was Chase Bank inquiring about the usage of our credit card. Larry assured them that it was really us using and that we would be using frequently as we are traveling. So the reason it was rejected was a security measure. We should have called before we left as we usually do call to tell whoever that we will be using our card frequently. Anyway that got resolved. I was driving and suddenly I saw a huge moose come out onto the highway ahead of us. I yelled at Larry and he did get a picture of him but not a great one. He was really big and black and his coat was so smooth the sun really glissened off him. He went on across the road and then stopped and looked at us for a long time and then took off like a flash of lightening. I drove for quite awhile--now keeping my eyes alert for more moose or deer but nothing more appeared. Larry took over driving and I was feeling sleepy so I came back to stretch out on the couch and he started yelling at me to get the camera. I ran up front grabbed the camera but too late. There was a fairly large black bear off the side of the road but by the time I got the camera ready we were past him. Later we saw a deer on the side of the road so we had a good wildlife viewing today I guess. We drove to Fort Nelson for the night and the farther we travel north the worse the campsites gets. The one we reserved for tonight is at the Bluebell RV Campground. I would say using the word campground is pushing the meaning a little far. It is basically a dirt lot out back of the Bluebell Motel with RV hookups. No grass no trees nothing but a dirt lot. As we were driving to Fort Nelson, the sky was getting darker and darker. By the time we pulled in we were in the middle of a dust storm and it was so bad you could not be outside. After we were here 30 minutes the storm hit and it is now raining--with much lightening and heavy thunder --, so now we do not have to worry about the dusty lot we are parked in --it is now a mud hole!!! Oh well I guess the farther we go north the more primitive it is going to be so we might as well get use to it. The thing that makes me mad about these RV Parks is they all advertise WIFI. Out of everyone we have stayed at I have only been able to connect to Internet 1 time. I really don't like that as email is the only communication I have currently --so when you haven't heard from us in a week or so just consider that we are in BFE and cannot get out!!!!
Glad you are all still safe. I see the world is still closing in on dad and seems to continue to find him no matter where he goes.....he should noodle on that one for a while. Glad you did not hit anything or get eaten....So is your rv park a step up with the hook-ups or a side step with pavement to dirt from walmart??? I enjoy reading your posts, keepem' coming!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this campground is a step up from Walmart parking lot or not. Walmart is not so bad once in a while as we do have the generator so we have air, heat, power or whatever. We stayed at Walmart 2 nights when we could not find a campsite. We have been trying to make reservations ahead of time but not always possible.
