------------------------Tappers around Bar and Walls at Humpy's
Green Bean garnish in Bloody Mary at Humpy's
Sunday August 1, 2010. We had a wonderful day today. Early this morning, Leslie and I made a trip to Fred Meyer to pick up a few groceries. We had planned to have Spaghetti tonight but ended up bar hopping with Pete and Leslie instead. Pete and Leslie went to REI and bought some items for biking. Then we took them downtown to a bike rental shop and they rented a tandom bike. Larry and I walked around downtown and bought raindeer sausage for Larry and a brat for myself from a street vendor. We ate it setting on the city hall steps. The sun came out today about noon and the day was beautiful. The flowers are just so beautiful downtown. They have them planted and hanging everywhere.
Pete and Leslie rode the bike outside of town to the Cook Inlet area. They came back with several pictures of moose. They saw a bull moose and a cow moose with her baby. We could not believe they actually encountered moose on the bike trail. The trail is a wonderful trail out of Anchorage and it runs 11 miles out of town and is blacktopped. It runs right along the Cook Inlet as I mentioned. They had a great time.
While they were gone Larry and I ended up at the Federal Building which is the main tourist center. They were showing movies this afternoon about different areas of Alaska. Leslie called and said they were not going to make it home for dinner and then Larry and her decided we would meet them at the cycle rental. We meet them there and were just going to have a beer with them. We went to 'F Street Grill' and had a wonderful Shrimp and Scallop dish as well as Salmon Spread which was also very good. We drank a few beer there and then the waitress told Pete that the best place for Crab was Humpy's. We walked over there and had Alaskan King Crab that was to die for! We chased them down with a few beer and Larry and I decided to head back to the campground. We told Pete and Leslie to call when they were ready to come home and we would run back down and get them. We parted ways, Larry and I drove down by the waterfront for awhile and made a quick stop at Fred Meyer on the way home. We had not been back to the RV 10 minutes and a cab pulled up in front. Pete had called a cab to bring them back to campground. They stopped in at another bar and Leslie had some shots, which made for the shortened night out.
We are off to Denali National Park tomorrow.
