Wednesday February 27 2013

We all left for Algodones about 9:30am. We arrived and the parking lot was packed so we were figuring it would be a long day after our appointments to get back across the boarder.

Jan, Judy and I decided to shop while Ken and Larry went to pick up Larry's glasses that he ordered two weeks ago. We gals started looking for Mexican soap that is used for stains on clothing. We went to several small grocery stores but the ones we were finding were not the same that we had bought before.  Judy remembered the name of the one we had before and asked one of the clerks if they carried it. She told us they quit making that brand and showed us the one to buy. I bought 3 bars so I had enough to give each of my girls. It is wonderful for rubbing on stains to remove before laundry. Larry has a stain on every shirt he owns and nothing I use seems to remove them.

We looked at several other items and Jan bought a purse and we found a nice tablecloth for their kitchen table but the gal would not bargain with us. We walked around but did not find another the right size anyplace else. We finally gave up and walked over to the Periodontist's office for Jan's cleaning appointment. When we got to Dr. Garcia's office, Larry and Ken were there and they had already called Ken in for his cleaning. Larry asked the office girl if the doctor had time to clean his teeth as well and she said they could work him in after Jan's appointment. I also need a cleaning but will have to wait until my bridge and crown are finished. While Jan was in for her appointment, Judy and I walked over to Dr. Juan's for my appointment.  I waited for about 30 minutes before they called me in.  Before I went in for appointment, Jan, Ken and Larry came,  Jan stayed with Judy to wait for me to finish and Ken and Larry went to drink beer.

It took forever for Dr. Juan to fit my new bridge. It had to be adjusted several times and by the time he had it fit, I told him I would make another appointment to have my final crown prepared. All I wanted to do was get out of there after spending so much time. Dr. Castro came in 2 times to Dr. Juan's operatory to talk with me. About 2 weeks ago I talked to her for the first time in about 2 years and I told her I could never arrange my appointments with her anymore so I had been seeing Dr. Juan. She told me she would see me if I wanted and I said I was very happy with Dr. Juan but I just missed saying hello to her occasionally. So for the past 2 appointments with Dr. Juan she had come in to give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek and she also has picked up Dr. Juan's instruments and looked at the work he is doing. She is such a sweet woman but after her second visit yesterday, I figured Dr. Juan was wondering what was up.  Before I left his office yesterday, I told him that I hoped he did not think I had asked Dr. Castro to check up on his work and explained what was said between us previously. I told him I think she misunderstood what I meant by never seeing her when I came in and that I wanted him to know how happy I was with his dental work. He laughed and shrugged his shoulders like 'who knows'. He DOES work for Dr. Castro but I'm not sure what is on her mind by coming in each time other than just to give me a hug, which is her normal personality.

I finally finished with appointment and made another appointment for next Wednesday to have my crown prepared. When Jan had her teeth cleaned, Dr. Garcia told her she had a crown that was leaking and she should have it looked at. She checked with Dr. Castro's office and they said they would see her at 4:00. The 3 of us walked over to El Gourmet to meet Ken and Larry. They had sat in the area that is served by Mr. Grouch. He is the other waiter besides Jose and he has no people skills and is always a jerk when he waits on us. I told Larry he should have sat on Jose's side but the place was packed and really was not room for the 5 of us on Jose's side anyway.  We ordered drinks when we got there and the next time we ordered, Jose had made arrangements with the other waiter to take over the service for our table. Jose is the one that Larry thinks has his eye on me. HA! I think he just likes to wait on us because we tip well and I tease him constantly. He is always a very cheerful guy. Brenda the dancing  waitress came over and talked several times and then brought her phone to show me a picture of her little girl.

We left to go back to Dr. Castro's for Jan's appointment. After the doctor checked the tooth she told Jan she needed a root canal. They made an appointment with Dr. Garza and another one for her to come back on Friday. Judy told me to go ahead and try to get myself an appointment with Dr. Juan for Friday and the 3 of us could come back Friday. I got an appointment at 3:00 Friday and then we all walked over to Dr. Garza's for Jan's Root Canal. She did not finish until 5:15. We stopped for a pain perscription and headed for boarder. We walked right through the boarder without a wait and arrived home at 6:30. What a very long day.

Tuesday February 26 2013

Got everything ready to take motor home for service. I gathered up the cats, litter box and their food and drove them down to the Jackson's. They all acted so thrilled to have them there! We'll see how they feel by the time we pick them up. When I picked up Raven to take him in to the house he was growling    and threatening to tear my arm off. I put him inside and he jumped up on a chair with his back to everyone and every time anyone touched him he would spit and growl. When I took Tucker inside he immediately crawled under a recliner and wanted nothing to do with us.

I told them all good luck and left to pick Larry up at LaMesa after he dropped the motor home off. We went to Cracker Barrel for a late breakfast and then shopped around the mall to kill time. We looked for some roll out inserts to put in the bottom cabinet in kitchen as it is so deep it is hard to get to the items in the back. We found Lowe's had several sizes so will have to measure our space to decide if they will work.

The service on the RV was completed around 2:00 so we picked it up and brought it back to the resort. Ken came down to help Larry back the motor home into our site. I went up to retrieve cats from Jan and Judy. Jan was so thrilled about her day with the cats I couldn't believe. She had several stories to tell about Raven and she sent me an email with pictures of Raven in their cactus garden. She said he even tried to eat one of the cactus--ouch--hope he didn't eat a lot of it or he will be sorry the next trip he makes to the litter box!!

Brought the cats back to the motor home and got set up again. I read for awhile and Jan, Judy and Ken came down for 'happy hour' again. We have so much fun talking with them. Judy is a crazy lady and keeps us all laughing.

We grilled pork chops and salmon for dinner. I fixed a salad and a potato and had a great dinner.

Tomorrow we have dental appointments in Los Algodones. Jan and Ken have an appointment with our Periodontist for cleanings as well so Jan, Judy and Ken will be going with us.

Monday February 25 2013

Yesterday was laundry day! UGH! Seems it comes earlier every week. Spent most of the day with laundry and cleaning.

Today we drove into Yuma to run errands and pick up groceries. We were gone most of the day. Leslie called when we got home and we talked for awhile. Ken, Judy and Jan came down for 'happy hour' and it was so cool we all sat inside to visit. The temperature has been between 65 and 70 but the winds have been very strong again so seems cooler than normal.

Jan and Judy insisted that they were going to keep the cats tomorrow while we take the motor home to LaMesa RV for service. I kept telling them that they would be fine as we would lock them in the back bathroom while they were working on the RV. Ken also insisted that we bring them down for them to keep and we finally agreed to do so. I hope they know what they are asking for. Raven does not do well with strange places so he will probably spit and growl the entire day.

When the group left I fixed dinner and called it a day.

Saturday February 23 2013

Larry bought some hooks to put up in the bedroom last week but decided they were not what he wanted. We drove into Yuma to Target to exchange and then went to Bed and Bath as I decided I was  going to buy a hokey for the RV. We have a central vacuum but the area rugs are constantly full of trash from the cats and everyone dropping things. I love my hokey that I use at home as it is so easy to grab and run over the area rugs. I had a coupon so decided I'd treat myself, even though Larry does not feel I need one. I bought a nice small one that will not take up much room and it is battery powered so no extension to plug in.

We left Bed and Bath and stopped at Marshall's to buy some drink glasses. I found some nice small wine glasses(stemless) and some taller ones for beer. We drove by Master Cuts and it looked like they were not very busy so stopped to get hair cuts. We both had a hair cut 3 weeks ago but my hair feels like it's been months since I had it cut. The gal that cut mine the last time was there but I ended up getting another one who acted as though she did not understand English. She was very nice but just didn't seem to understand anything I said. When we left, I was pretty sure she had cut my hair very short but guess I can go a few more days between my next cut!

Taylor sent me a gift card to Olive Garden for my birthday so we decided to eat there. It was packed with people but we got in right away. We had soup, salad and stuffed mushrooms and it was so good, as always! I thought the card was for $25 but found it was $50 when we went to pay our bill. I have money left on the card so I can see another visit in the near future.

We came home and I decided to lay down to read. We weren't home long and Ken came over to talk and drink beer with Larry so they sat outside for a long time. I think I snuck a short nap into my afternoon, which is usually the case when I read; I just can't stay awake when I read!

I got up and we snacked for dinner. Later Jan and Judy came over to bring Larry a book. He and Jan like reading the same type of books and she had just finished it. They stayed a short time and left for home. We watched a little TV but wasn't much worth my time so I went back and read for awhile before bed. I still felt tired today--guess I AM retired as a little extra work wears me out. I'm sure it is not because I am OLD!

Friday February 22 2013

I didn't post a blog yesterday as we held up in the RV most of the day. It was cold, cloudy and we also had a bit of rain. I read most of the day and worked around the house.

Judy and Jan came over last night and stayed a couple of hours to visit. They said that their sister, Pat, volunteered them to work in the kitchen here at the resort tomorrow morning and then of course, Pat, left to go home, so she will not be working with them. I told them if they needed help to call me and I would come up to work.

This morning after I got my shower, Judy called and said they really needed help so I walked up to the clubhouse to work. They are having a steak fry tonight for 180 people so Judy and I spent a lot of our time scrubbing potatoes for baked potatoes. We washed and stuffed 203 potatoes and wrapped them for baking. Jan and Rosie(another volunteer) helped us with the stuffing and wrapping also. Then Oscar, who is a huge man that resides in the resort, drug in 2 very large bags of lettuce. Judy, Marj(Oscar's wife) and I, washed lettuce and chopped it for salads for another 2 hours. Wow, what a job! While we were working on the lettuce, Oscar washed and chopped green onions and dipped sour cream into bowls for the potatoes. Everyone had a job and no one slacked on helping. I found that Rosie is the aunt of Evelyn, our next door neighbor. She was a wonderful lady and helped organize the whole process. Judy and I mostly worked together so we had a fun time with our stupid comments and chatter. We finished around 1:30 and then Jan, Judy and I decided we would all eat together tonight so we spent a few minutes dividing up what we all would make. They told us we could all come to the steak fry but we decided it would be more fun to just have our own.

I came home and felt like I'd worked a 12 hour day! Larry and I sat down on the patio and had a beer and then went grocery shopping as we were out of everything. We did not get home until 3:15. I made a huge salad, sliced fresh bread and prepared for the oven and we gathered our drinks and walked over to the Jackson's.

We all sat on their deck and had drinks. Jan already had a fresh loaf of warm bread made so we munched on it with our drinks. I had so many carb's that by the time we were ready to eat I felt like a nap.

We visited for quite some time over our drinks and then Jan appointed Larry to grill the steaks. We had a wonderful meal; steak, baked potatoes, hot bread and a salad that I had added so many items to that it was a meal within itself.  We were all stuffed by the time we finished. I picked up a small cheesecake and Jan made small banana cream tarts. Of course I had to have a small dessert even though I was so full I couldn't breath. What a wonderful time we had! We all get along so well and it feels like we are all family. Ken and Larry could talk for days and Judy says Ken normally doesn't spend much time talking to anyone. When we met them last year, they were all people that we felt we had known for years.

We cleaned up the mess and stayed for awhile longer talking. When we walked home, Jan and Judy walked over with us and the 3 of us gals set outside for awhile before they left. I could not believe how exhausted I felt. I changed into my PJ's and went to bed to read but was so tired I think I fell asleep soon after I laid down.

Wednesday February 20 2013

Larry went for a walk with Ken and I cleaned up the motor home a little and got a shower. I have an appointment at 10:30 to have a pedicure and manicure at Yuma Nail's which is next door to Frye's.

I arrived for my appointment and the place was packed. I'm glad I made an appointment as most of the people were walk-in's and were being turned away. Wanda as well as Jan and Judy all had their pedicures here last week. They finally called me to a chair and I still sat for 15 minutes until someone came over. The gal's name was Angie and she looked different from the rest of the Vietnamese so I ask if she was Vietnamese. She said she had 4 nationalities in here heritage and 1 was Vietnamese. She was very cute and friendly and when she finished, I decided she was almost as good as my great nail technician, Angel, at home. I didn't think anyone could come close to the beautiful job Angel does but my nails look great. I have such a problem with ingrown nails on my toes and Angie did a great job of cutting them out as well.

I went to Frye's to pick up some grocery items and grabbed chicken wings and tenders from the deli to bring home for lunch. Frye's has such a wonderful deli and a large variety of food. I think there are many of the snowbirds who eat their meals from the deli.

Came home and had lunch. The weather is so cold today that I can't stand being outside. I put on my sweatpants and sweatshirt and laid around all afternoon reading.

Jerry Twedell called this afternoon to ask if we needed a snow shovel. He was watching the Golf Tournament that was held in Tuscon today and he said they were getting lots of snow. We had not seen the news all day but when we watched the evening news they showed Tuscon and the ground and trees were covered with snow and ice. We also heard they cancelled the tournament today because of the snow and wind.

Tuesday February 19 2013

Left for Mexico at about 10:15am as my appointment was at 11:00 and 12:00 for Larry. When we pulled into the parking lot there were so many cars we would have parked 3 blocks from the gate. I drove around for awhile and found someone leaving so we were able to find a close spot. We walked pretty fast to arrive at office by 11:00. We might as well have saved our energy as we sat for an hour before they called Larry in for his 12:00 appointment -- I was still waiting for them to call me. I finally got in for appointment at around 12:20 with Dr. Juan. He placed the permanent crown on the implant and acted as if he was done. I asked him if he was going to remove my old bridge and prepare the area for a new one. Obviously, he did not get the message from Dr. Garcia last week about replacing. He looked at his schedule and decided he had time to do it. It took a long time to get the old bridge off and a shorter time for him to prepare the teeth for the new bridge. The item that took longest was the temporary that he made to cover the prepared area. Unlike our US Dentists, the Mexican Dentist go to extreme effort to make temporary crowns or bridges. They make the temporary's by placing a soft material over prepared area until it hardens. He removed the piece and took it to his lab and worked at least 40 minutes to make it fit. It was almost like the finished product when placed in my mouth. When I had the first 2 bridges done in 2000, the temporary bridge that was placed fit as well as the actual bridge. I'm sure I could have worn it for months. This seems like a costly waste of the dentist's time when it is only going to be there for a week.

Dr. Juan was talking about the bicycle taxi and told me that the officials kicked him out of town. It so happens that the guy who ran the taxi's was Dr. Juan's brother-in-law and he told me there was another guy who had tried for 3 or 4 years to get a license to run a bicycle taxi as well. I guess the officials denied him again this year and he started a fight with Dr's brother-in-law, which resulted in both of them being thrown out. Unless someone pays the right people, I doubt we will see the taxi's again.

Ken, Judy and Jan asked us to make an appointment for all of them for a periodontal cleaning with Dr. Garcia. We walked over to his office and set up the appointments for the same time as my next appointment with Dr. Juan so they can go with us next week. On the way back, I stopped to talk to Luis, the stained glass guy, about making a Chicago Bull's stained glass for my son-in-law. I had copied a picture off the internet this morning as I was not sure he knew what the logo looked like. He had a piece he had previously made that just needed the lettering. He said it would be ready next week.

We checked the boarder line and it was as far as the eye could see. Larry wanted to go stand in line but I told him we could drink beer and wait for the line to go down. We went to El Gourmet to listen to PePe play and drink beer. Jose, our one armed waiter, was glad to see us as I'm sure he LOVES our generous  tips. He is a very good waiter and hustles all the time and is very pleasant.

We sat down and I noticed a gentleman who must have been 70---SOMETHING in his 'Daisy Duke' shorts. They were jeans that had been cut off so short the pockets hung out below the legs when he sat down. He was very cocky, Canadian and thought it was all about him!  He had a T-shirt with a Harley Davidson vest over it. I'm sure he had just bought the vest at the corner vendor, probably today. I doubt he even knew what a Harley Davidson Motorcycle was. Believe it or not, I don't think he was gay as his wife was with him. After I drank a couple of beer, I wanted to ask him if he was aware 'Daisy Duke's' went out in the 50's!!! Would have loved to see his face when I said that but Larry recommended I keep my mouth shut -- so for once I did!!

PePe played 'Pretty Woman' and Jose pointed at me. Larry said he thinks he has his eye on me. I told him I'm sure I looked like a 'free ride across the boarder' for him. We sat and listened to the music and each of us walked up at different times to check the boarder line and it was still very long. We stayed until about 4:30 and when we went to get in line, it had shortened somewhat, so we were across in about 45 minutes.

Monday February 18 2013

Larry spent most of the morning cleaning the BBQ Grill. It is so clean you could lick the inside with your tongue!!

We drove up to LaMesa RV to check on the parts they ordered for our repair scheduled for the 26th. With past experience, you have to keep hounding these people to make sure the parts are ordered and are there the day of service. All has been ordered so hopefully one trip down to the service will take care of our problem with the slide-out.

We went on into Yuma and stopped at Chilli's for lunch. Jerry and Jan sent me a gift card for my birthday so used it for our lunch. When our bill came we could not believe the total. Our food was $18 and we had 2 beer each and the beer was $19!!! How unbelievable that 4 bottles of beer were $4.50 each!! We have had beer in almost every restaurant in the area and never paid more than $2.50 to $3.00 each. This will be our last visit to Chilli's for awhile!

We exchanged a couple of items and back by Walmart for a few items. We were gone most of the afternoon. When we pulled into the RV Park Judy, Jan and Ken were setting outside and we stopped to say hi. Ken had asked Larry this morning about us coming over for 'happy hour' this afternoon so they all said they were just waiting for the party to begin.

We drove on to the motor home and put everything from Walmart away and grabbed our beer and walked over to the Jackson's. Pat(Jan and Judy's sister)and husband left this morning for home so I told Jan and Judy I was waiting to put my name on their 'dance cards'. They said they were actually glad to see Pat leave as she wanted to run the roads every day and they were worn out.

I took 2 small bottles of White Russians over for Jan and Judy as they are not beer drinkers. We drank the beer we took with us and Ken kept pulling another bottle for all of us out of frig. I think we each drank about 4 or 5 each before leaving---And I wonder why my cloths are getting tight??? This was in addition to the 2 that I drank at Chilli's. By the time I get home I'll be back to my original weight which was bordering on 200!!! I do enjoy our 'happy hours'! We had so much fun setting on the deck and talking and laughing as we always do with this group. They are such amazing people and we feel like they are family as they are all so warm and friendly!

Leslie called while we were at the Jackson's and said she went out and checked on the house and nothing seemed out of place and our resident bum was alive and well. She teases us all the time about the bum that lives in our basement each time we travel! She also said it was raining really hard and was nasty weather most of the day.

We finally stumbled home and I was not long out of bed, however I neither had a headache or a buzz on from the beer. Must have been an unusual day for my body.

Sunday February 17 2013

I started laundry when we finished breakfast this morning. I seem to have more than normal this week. Cleaned the RV a little and Larry went over to tell Wanda and Dan goodbye before he left for his walk. He and Ken Jackson has been walking each morning but this morning Ken and the gals were gone when he stopped by. Jan and Judy don't stay home much, especially since their sister, Pat, arrived. Pat and John are leaving tomorrow to go back to Canada so I will probably see more of Jan and Judy after she leaves.

Dan was doing all the last minute things to get ready to leave and Wanda and I visited some while he was working outside.  They paid to stay for an extra 3 days last week and this place is so cheap that they would not give them a new internet access code. They told them unless they paid for a week they did not provide internet, even though they have been here 3 weeks already! We loaned them our Verzion WiFi a couple of times so they could check their email. Wanda asked if she could use it again this morning for a short time as she was expecting an email from their friends up in Phoenix.  I am so thrilled we went ahead and got the WiFi as it is so much faster than using the one in the resort. We also have it wherever we go and do not have to deal with walking to the clubhouse to access.

They ended up leaving around 10:30 and it feels like the street is deserted as we only have Wayne and Evelyn on the other side and several empty lots on the side where Dan and Wanda was and then 2 more RV's on down from that. There are a large number of empty lots this year. I'm sure the economy is part of the reason. We did get two new 5th Wheels in across the street yesterday. I think they are traveling together and are Canadian. Dan was joking me that maybe we would get some Indians as our new neighbor and I told him it would probably be another damn Canadian! I laughed as I said it so he knew I was joking him. As is with most of the RV Resorts in Arizona lately, the Canadian's out number the Americans about 10 to 1. It's a great bargain for them to come here for the winter as most everything is cheaper in the US than in Canada.

We went over to Fry's and grabbed a hamburger for lunch. We bought a steak for Larry and Salmon for myself for dinner tonight.  Larry grilled the meat and we had dinner around 6:00. It was still very warm and the motor home has been pretty warm inside all day. I was a little too warm finishing dinner up inside. We have not yet used our air conditioning but will probably be doing so before long if it keeps getting so warm through the day.

Saturday February 16 2013

Dan and Wanda asked us to go up to the clubhouse here in the resort for breakfast. Each Saturday morning, they serve a breakfast for $5 each . We walked up and had a very nice breakfast with eggs, sausage and pancakes. We sat and talked for a long time before coming home. Dan and Wanda are leaving early Sunday morning and we will dearly miss them.

We drove into Yuma to exchange a shirt Larry had bought and to pick some items up from Sam's. The farmer's market was going on in the mall parking lot so we walked through to try to find the guy from  Somerton that we bought tomatoes from last week. Again, he was not there but Annabell, the salsa lady was, so we asked her about him. She gave us his name and the name of his produce company. She is from Somerton and has her kitchen there where she makes the salsa. Last night on the news we heard that a baby was found in the recycling plant in Somerton just shortly before we arrived. The news reported interviewed Annabell about the story. We told her we saw her on the news and asked if she had heard any further details about the story and she said no that the details were being withheld until they can investigate further.

We came back to the Foothills and stopped at Fry's to grab a few groceries before heading home. Dan and Wanda came over later for a drink and we visited for awhile. We have enjoyed them so much. They are going up to the Phoenix area for a few weeks as they have some friends around Surprise, which is a suburb of Phoenix.

The weather has been very warm for several days with temperatures around 80 degrees. I think next week it is to cool down some. I have been having so many allergy problems and all I do is blow my nose and sneeze. I picked up new medication at Sam's last week but it is not working well so will have to change to something else. I cough constantly and at times I can't hardly talk, so again Arizona does not seem to be my friend when it comes to the Allergies!!

Friday February 15 2013

We took a trip over to Somerton, AZ today to the farmer's market. Last week at the Yuma Farmer's Market, Annabell, the lady who sells home made salsa, told us about the Somerton market. We bought some wonderful tomatoes at the Yuma market and the guy was from Somerton so we thought he might be there today.

We got to the market and saw Annabell but the guy with the tomatoes was not there. There was produce but none of it looked exceptional. Several of the women from a booth for Breast Cancer Awareness told us we must eat at the Main Street Cafe as they used all local produce and it was wonderful food.

We walked over to the cafe and they had a wine tasting bar on the outside patio. We sampled several wines and talked to three young men that were locals. They told us to order the Tlayulas, which they said was like a Mexican Pizza with chorizo cheese and was very different. We went in and got a table and ordered the Tlayulas and while waiting also had a cup of meatball soup. The soup was wonderful and had pieces of fresh vegetables and wonderful seasoned broth. When our Tlayulas came it was so very good. It was like a crisp tortilla crust with very nicely seasoned hamburger, chicken, cheese and lots of lettuce, onion and thin slices of avacado. I'm sure Leslie would love this place! She took me to Delavan, IL before we left home for my birthday lunch at a place much like this little cafe. When we were finished with lunch the waitress asked if we would like sherbert or koukla. I choose the Koukla and it came in a tall shot glass with a bit of cream on top. It was perfect as an after dinner treat.

We came back to Yuma and stopped at the mall for a short time before coming home. When we got home Dan and Wanda came over for our nightly 'happy hour'.

Thursday February 14 2013

Well today it is official---I am 65 years old!!! Who would have thought it would come so soon! Oh well I'm very lucky to have my health and able to enjoy life!

I went outside around 8:15 and Wanda came over and asked if I had seen my birthday sign. I walked around the front of the motor home and saw this huge beautiful sign attached to the front with 'Happy 65th Birthday Carol'. I asked her if she put it there and she said no so I immediately knew it had to be Jan and Judy, my dear Canadian Friends, who are onery as hell!

We got all of our junk together to leave and Dan came outside and I asked him one last time if he felt ok about us going to Mexico. He assured me he was fine with it soWanda and I left around 8:30. We parked and walk across the border and started shopping for some things she wanted to buy for their family. I laughed so hard at her because she was really driving some hard deals with the vendors. She ended up buying all of her items for her named price but not without a lot of  'bickering'  back and forth. I stopped and said hello to Luis, who is the man I have bought several stained glass pieces from over the years. He is such a nice man!

We walked to the alley area where they have many more items and Wanda found an iron piece for the yard that she wanted for her daughter-in-law. She argued with the lady on the price until I thought they were going to pitch her out the door. At first the lady was going to spray it with an outdoor varnish and pack it for taking home.  By the time she left, the lady was so frustrated with Wanda that she basically threw it in a big trash bag and sent her on her way. I was so entertained by Wanda and her bargaining, it made the day. We then went over to El Gourmet to have some drinks and listen to PePe play. It was only 10:30am and they cannot sell liquor until 11:00 so we ordered a couple of sodas until we could get our drinks. I assumed we would stay an hour or so and then head home as I thought Wanda would want to get home early. We ended up staying till almost 2:00 and she was telling everyone it was my birthday and I had several drinks bought by fellow customers. I had a lot of beer again but we had such a fun time listening to the music and we danced some with Brenda, the waitress and then another old guy kept asking us to dance. His wife was sitting at the table laughing at us all.

Wanda bought me a CD of PePe and had him sign it for my birthday. She later had him sign Happy Birthday and he followed that with 'Sweet Caroline', one of my very favorite songs.

We went to border and the line was very short. It only took us about 20 minutes to get across and we were home by 3:00. When we got home Dan and Larry were on the patio drinking beer so of course, I drank beer too! Wanda had a couple of mixed drinks and we put the CD of PePe on and it was surprisingly a very good CD.

Ken walked over and drank beer with all of us for awhile and then went home to eat. Larry and I came inside to eat a hotdog and Dan and Wanda went home to eat. While we were eating, Jan, Judy and Pat(other sister from Canada) came over and they gave me a very nice blanket that they had made with a cat print. It was very cute and they said they made it special with the cat print for my birthday. They are just so wonderful and I consider them dear friends. They left to go home and we finished eating and took our coffee outside to drink and Dan and Wanda came back over.  Dan brought some type of liquor and shot glasses and we all had shots. It tasted so terrible but when I went to bed I did not have a headache and my stomach felt great so maybe this is a new 'hangover cure'!

Wednesday February 13 2013

We went down to the small farmer's market that is held on Wednesdays. We didn't spend a lot of time there and then drove over to find Parish's, which is a bar and grill where we ate last year. Wanda and Dan wants us to go out to eat tonight as they are planning to leave Thursday morning.

After we found Parish's, we went to Fry's to pick up beer and a few grocery items and had lunch at their deli. I walked over to the nail place, next door to Fry's to check on getting a pedicure and gel manicure. They gave me a card and said I could either call or just walk in for appointment. Wanda told me she went over and had a pedicure yesterday and it looked like they did a nice job.

We came home around 2:00 and Ken, Judy and Jan came by and we had beer on the patio. They were still here when Wanda called to tell us what time they would be home to go to dinner. Wanda and Dan golfed today.

We went to Parish's for dinner and then came home and sat outside with Dan and Wanda and had more drinks. Dan has decided they are going to stay now until Sunday. Wanda and I got to talking about going to Mexico tomorrow and made plans to leave at 8:30am. I'm not sure Dan is all too thrilled that she and I are going alone but neither he nor Larry wants to go so we will go alone and have a great time!

Tuesday February 12 2013

We left for Mexico this morning at 8:15. We arrived at Dr. Garcia's, the Periodontist, who finished his part of our implants . We waited for about 45 minutes for him to show up but took less than 5 minutes on each of us for him to attach the post that will be used to place the crowns. My appointment with Dr. Juan was at 10:00 and we got to the office about 5 minutes before appointment time. Normally after arriving, we can plan to sit for an hour or more but this morning I hardly sat down before they called me in. Larry's appointment with Dr. Castro was set for 11:00 but as I was sitting in Dr.Juan's operatory, I could hear him in Dr. Castro's room, which was next to Dr. Juan. I made the mistake of talking with Dr. Juan about soccer because he is really into the game. He had finished preparing the post for my crown and was molding a temporary out of a material that is placed on the prepared tooth and hardens as it sets. He let it set too long and had to drill it off the tooth. So with this little 'oops', Larry was done about the same time as me.

I asked Dr. Juan to take a look at an older bridge on the lower side of my mouth as it has been bothering me some. He took x-rays and looked at the bridge, checked the teeth and decided to send me back to Dr. Garcia for a second opinion as to whether the abutment teeth were strong enough to just remake a bridge or whether I might be better to have another implant.

Dr. Garcia's assistant drove over to pick us up and we waited almost another hour in his office before he called me in. The good news was that he felt the teeth were sound enough for Dr. Juan to just make a new bridge.

We went to the plaza and had 2 large Pacifica Beer with our lunch. I felt like I could take a nap but when we left there, we walked back to Dr. Juan's(Dr. Castro's) office. When Larry was there this morning, he talked to Dr. Castro about getting eyeglasses. She told him she would have one of the office girls tell us where her optometrist's office was. When we left the girl said she would check with Dr. Castro and call over to Dr. Garcia's to let us know but she forgot to call. She walked us to the optometrist's office and Larry ended up ordering a pair with transition lenses to be picked up in a week. We both have appointments for the dentist next Tuesday so will probably pick glasses up then.

The line to cross the border was massive and remained so all day. We went back to the El Gourmet where they have an outdoor eating area and drank more beer. Matter of fact, we drank SEVERAL beer while we waited almost 4 hours for the crowd to ease for the border. They had a wonderful entertainer by the name of PePe Cordovia. He plays guitar and sings all of the 50's, 60's and 70's music and the crowd was wild as everyone was dancing and having a great time. One of the waitress's was in the middle of the dancing all afternoon. Her name is Brenda and she LOVES to dance. Of course the crowd was on their feet with her dancing their hearts out!

We finally left the bar at around 6:15 and the line was still very long to get across the border. It was longer than we have ever had to wait before. The bicycle taxi's were no where to be seen and we were told by one of the dental assistance's that she thought they had made them stop running the taxi's. What a disappointment as in years past when the border line was long, we could pay $5 and ride across the border in the taxi. We waited in line for almost 2 hours to get across. It was a very long day and we were so tired when we got home that I think we both went to bed within the hour.

Monday February 11 2013

I was very slow this morning about getting my shower. Larry ran up to LaMesa RV to tell them he talked to the hydraulic people and they told him to have LaMesa order some parts so they would have them when we take the motor home in on February 26. I laid around most of the morning and finally got up and got my shower and was dressed when Larry came home. We went into Yuma and looked for some items for the motor home. We had lunch while we were out and then made our trip to Walmart. You would think it was the first of the month as the people were lined about 8 deep to check out at every register.

We came home and I was freezing. It only reached about 59 degrees today. I came in and changed my cloths into something warmer. Dan came over and he and Larry sat out on patio in shorts and short sleeved shirts drinking beer. I finally put a sweatshirt on and went out and had a beer and then Wanda came over. We all sat outside and drink until time to start dinner. We made plans to go to dinner with Dan and Wanda on Wednesday night as they plan to leave on Thursday.

We had a big lunch so we had hamburgers and cottage cheese for dinner. I sliced another of the tomatoes that we bought at the Farmer's market on Saturday and it at least tasted like a tomato. We will diffidently buy more on Saturday if the same guy is  at the Farmer's Market this week.

Tomorrow we go to Los Algodones, MX for our first dental appointment. We see the periodontist at 9:00am and then over to Dr. Castro's for the prep for our crowns to be placed on the implant.

Sunday February 10 2013

I deemed today domestic day as I have a week's worth of laundry and a little cleaning to do in the RV.

Larry went for a walk and I started the laundry. I picked up junk around the motor home and swept good.

Dan came over and asked if we needed anything from Walmart. He went to Walmart and came home with a car duster for both he and Larry. Larry ran the duster over the outside of the motor home and it looks like it is freshly washed. He also ran it over the car and it done a fantastic job. The dust here is unbelievable. I could dust every day in the motor home and I do most days.

I stripped the bed and while I had everything off, I took pictures of the mattresses to send to Tiffin. I sent a email last week to tell them that the mattresses they replaced on January 17 are ditched down in the middle just as bad as the one's they took off the bed. I also told them I did not want new mattresses from them but would like to have them reimburse us the cost of the mattresses and let us buy our own. They replied to my email asking me to send them pictures of the mattresses. Hopefully we will get some resolution from them soon.

Later Dan came over and told us to bring our beer over to their place for an early 'happy hour'. We took our beer over and Wanda and I sat in the sun and Larry and Dan set in the shade. The temperature was perfect for most of the day but since it has been a little cooler the past few days, the temperature drops fast and earlier in the day. By the time we came home, Larry was freezing and grabbed a sweatshirt to put on. This is very unusual for him as it seems he never gets cold.

I started getting dinner ready and Larry went out to grill some pork chops. After I got the rest ready, I took a glass of wine out to patio and then Ken Jackson came walking over with beer in hand. He lives with Judy and Jan and being the only male in the house, needs to get away occasionally so he comes over here to escape. He sat and drank a beer and we all talked for awhile before he headed back home. Jan and Judy's sister, Pat, is here for a month and she nor her husband are Ken's favorite people. They were at Ken's to eat with them tonight so he walked over before their dinner was ready. He is such a good guy and I can understand where he needs a little space with all of them.

We had a great dinner tonight but we were both so hungry that anything I guess would have been great!

The weather is to warm up in the next few days back into the mid to high 70's. The only day that was really quite cool was Friday and the wind on Saturday was pretty cool as well. It's still better weather than being in the Midwest at this time of year!

Saturday February 9 2013

Today was the garage sale here in the resort. I was getting ready to take a walk through to see what kind of junk was out that I could not live without when Larry came home from his walk. He told me not to bother as he checked out several sales while walking and it all was truly JUNK!

Larry stopped and talked with Ken this morning but the gals were off shopping already. I did not see either Judy or Jan all day so they must have found plenty to spend their money on. Judy and Jan both are taking a quilting class on Tuesday and had invited me to sign up and go with them. I would love to give it a try but Tuesday we have our first dental appointment in Los Algodones to have our implants completed.  The lady they are taking the class from teaches in her home somewhere here in the Foothills and she has her garage turned into an entire sewing center with machines, etc.  Jan showed me how the lady teaches quilting. She uses a adhesive backing that has a graph on it that helps with placing the pieces evenly. The way Jan explained, I really believe I could do it and would probably enjoy. I might look into taking a class before we leave if we have time.

We drove into Yuma to the Saturday Farmer's Market held in the parking lot of the Mall. We went several times last year while here. The only things we bought was a jar of hot sauce made by a lady from Sommerton which is about 18 miles from Yuma. It is actually more of a hot relish and she combined it with sour cream. We bought the mild but she had three that were much hotter. She donates a portion of the price of each jar to the Yuma Hospice. We also bought a few tomatoes from a grower in Sommerton as well. Tonight Larry had one of the tomatoes and told me it's the first tomato that he has had in Arizona that taste like a real tomato. Last year we bought tomatoes from several markets and they all tasted like plastic.

Today was very cool. I wore capri's and a jacket when we went to Yuma but came home and put socks and long pants on. The wind picked up around 9:30 last night and it rained for a short time. This morning we still had pretty strong winds but no rain. I think by Thursday the temperature is to get warmer.

I have been having some problems with my back again. I honestly think it is our mattress. We were given two new mattresses when we went to Red Bay, AL to the Tiffin Factory on January 17 and they are already ditched in the middle. I sent an email to Tiffin about a week ago asking if they would just give us the cost of the mattresses and let us buy our own. They replied to my email a couple of days ago asking I send a picture of the mattress to them. We tried to take a picture once before we went to Red Bay but it really did not show how bad they were dipped in the middle. I plan to try getting a better picture tomorrow.

We came home this afternoon and I took a short nap to try to get rid of my backache. Didn't have much luck with that.

Talked to Leslie this morning and she is feeling somewhat better. Worked Thursday and Friday but said she was exhausted when she came home last night.

Texted Taylor earlier in the week and Morgan has strep throat again and Addison was acting like she was getting sick as well.  The doctor told them last year that Morgan was a strep carrier so the whole family usually ends up with it when she has it.

Tomorrow I plan to chill out and so laundry. I think it is to be cool again so not too enjoyable being out much.

Friday February 8 2013

We drove into Yuma today to again look for a small wireless printer for the RV. We went to Target to look and found a very nice HP wireless that we liked. We have purposely not looked at HP's as the ink cartridges are expensive to replace compared to some of the other brands. We talked to a young guy who worked there that seemed to be very knowledgeable and he highly recommended the HP over some of the others. When we checked the price of replacement cartridges they were pretty much the same price and the other brands and much cheaper than the HP we have at home. We also liked this printer because it had a flat bed copier and a scanner so we went ahead and bought it as we felt it was small enough for the RV.

We then stopped at Best Buy and found the price of the HP printer there was the same price we paid at Target but the replacement cartridges were a few dollars higher than Target. While we were there I looked at the small netbook computers as I dropped mine yesterday and it no longer will boot up. I quickly decided I would not be replacing it as they were very expensive. Taylor and Kyle bought me an Ipad for Christmas and I treated myself to a wireless keyboard to hook up with it so when I got home I found that using the Ipad was even much easier than my old netbook. So I have decided I do not really need a new PC.

When we left Best Buy, we stopped to eat a the Pita Pit. We had not been there before so weren't sure what to order. The place was packed with people so we assumed it was a decent place to eat.  I talked to a lady in front of us and she gave us some great information about some of the pita combinations she liked. I ended up getting Souvlaki Chicken, which was Mediterranean seasoned chicken. After choosing the meat, it's kinda like a Subway Shop as then you choose all the items you want on it, however they had some very unusual toppings. I had roasted red peppers as one of the toppings and something I'd never heard of, which was Tzatziki Sauce. This is basically a cucumber sauce but was  very good. By the time it was all put together it was huge. Larry had a Gyro which he said was good but he basically didn't get enough sauce and he though it was a little bland. My pita was very good but I think it's something I would only want occassionally which is good because it was rather expensive.

We came home and I sat outside in the sun for awhile. Today was rather cool, in the mid 60's and the wind was pretty strong, which made it feel cooler. While setting outside, David, our next door neighbor last year, came by and talked for awhile.  He is not my favorite person but his wife Cynthia has become a good friend as we have corresponded via email all year. She is a real sweetheart and I have no idea what she ever saw in David but each to their own.

I came in for awhile and then Wanda, next door came over to visit. She said she wanted to go to Walmart to pick up some groceries but Dan(her husband) took off to see a friend here in the resort so she didn't go. I told her I had a list of groceries we needed so if she wanted to go I'd go with her.  We drove down to Walmart and I told her to just meet me at the front where we came in when she was finished. I ran into her several times when I was shopping and she told me the last time she was almost finished but wanted to look quickly for some shorts. I told her to take her time and then I finished my shopping and checked out and went to the front to wait.  I waited for about 30 minutes and started to worry that maybe Wanda was at the other door. I walked down two times in the next 15 minutes and still did not see her. I then walked over to the women's clothing and could not see her there. I finally called Larry to ask him if he had seen Dan and found that Dan was at our RV having drinks with Larry. I asked if by chance Wanda had called him and he said she did not have the cell phone. Now I was really getting worried as I still had not seen her. I walked out to the car but she was not there so I threw my groceries in the car and went back inside. I walked around for awhile and finally saw her in the checkout line. I was so relieved and told her I'd been worried. She apologized and said she had spent time trying on shorts and didn't realize she was gone so long. We laughed about it but I told her that I had called home. She said Dan would probably chew her out for taking so long. When I came in with my groceries, Dan was still here, so I told him not to say one word to Wanda for taking too much time.  Oh well, I was just glad we ended up finding each other as Walmart was full of people tonight.

Larry worked on setting up the printer but still didn't get it all working so I have to listen to him tomorrow trying to set it up. I hate being around when he does projects!

Thursday February 7 2013

It ended up being a pretty short night as the cats get us up as usual at sometime around 5:30am. Not sure just how much sleep I had  but I do know I did not go to bed until very late.

We had a craft show in the resort this morning so I walked up to check it out. I gathered up wine glasses and a chair that the girls left at our place last night and stopped over at Judy ad Jan's to drop them off.  When I got there, Judy said Jan was still in bed. Not surprising since she was very drunk when I left her last night! It was after 9:00 when I left and she was still sleeping.

I walked on to the club house and spent about an hour looking at all the craft booths. There were some really nice items but I only bought a little decoration thing for our screen door. It is a cute cat that reminds me of Raven and says 'Welcome'. I talked to the lady that was selling them and she explained a little about how she makes them. I thought it was something that I'd enjoy learning how to make as it involves a little bit of painting.

On my way back from the club house, I came by Judy's again and she told me to come up for a cup of coffee.  By now Jan was up but not looking the best. We all sat on the deck and had coffee and talked  for an hour or so.

I walked back home and decided I had put cleaning the motor home as long as I could stand it. Larry had already swept the floors so I went ahead and mopped the floors. I spent about and hour or more cleaning and at least felt better about the day since I had a clean house.

Wednesday January 6 2013

I didn't post a blog yesterday as I was busy but today I cannot even remember what happened! Old age is a wonderful thing! Regardless, I doubt anyone cares so on to Wednesday.

Larry picked up roof covers from the RV supply for our fantastic(ceiling) fans in motor home yesterday. This morning he decided to install the covers before it gets too hot. Actually I was impressed that he finished the job in less than two hours as I planned for it to be an all day job.

We went to the Farmers Market which is held each Wednesday just down the road from the RV Resort. It is a pretty interesting place to visit. We went by one vendor who was selling cleaning mitts and stopped to see her demo. It works a lot like the Norwex products I bought at my sister-in-laws party last last year. The mitt is nubby on one side and you squirt it with a small amount of water, wipe whatever you are cleaning and then flip the mitt over to the smooth side and it shines the item you just cleaned. We ended up buying several as they were MUCH cheaper than the items I bought at home.

Left the Farmer's Market and drove into Yuma and had lunch at Olive Garden. This is still one of my very favorite places to eat. We had the soup and salad and  was so full I wasn't sure I could walk to the car.

I had Larry drop me at J.C.Penny's as Wanda, next door, told me she saw Clark flip flops on sale yesterday. I have a pair of navy Clark's that I've had for 3 years or more and they are so comfortable so I treated myself to two pair! My birthday is next week so figured I'd call it my gift as that's how I obtain gifts most of the time. I'm picky I guess as Larry has given up buying me gifts as I end up returning them normally.

The slide out in the living room of motor home is not staying out all the way and we've talked to Tiffin about the problem. We are taking it in for service to LeMesa RV here in Yuma on February 26 but in the meantime, the service guy said we could use a piece of wood on the outside to keep it from retracting. It only retracts about 2 inches but it bugs Larry so we picked up a piece of lumber at Home Depot to use for slide out until our service date.

We came home and Dan and Wanda came home from Mexico around 4:00 and we sat on their patio for our nightly beer(s). We enjoy both of them a lot and we have been spending  'happy hour 'with them each day. I think they are only going to be here another week so will miss them when they leave.

We came inside and I was debating on what to fix for something light for dinner and someone came pounding on the door. When Larry went to door, it was Jan and her other sister Pat. They came inside and they both had wine glasses in their hands. One look at them and it was pretty obvious that they had had more than one glass of wine. Jan said they ran out of wine and no one would go get them more. She opened our refrigerator and found two part bottles of wine. I got them both out and filled their glasses. I decided I might as well drink with them so I got a glass and filled it up. Later there was another knock on the door and it was Judy(Jan and Pat's sister) ,so by the time we all got to laughing and talking, Larry got up and went over to Ken's(Judy's husbands) and sat and drink beer with him. Before Larry left, he went outside and got another bottle of wine for us. We continued drinking wine, talking and laughing until quite late. We all walked over to Judy, Ken and Jan's house and Pat walked on to her RV. We stayed at Judy's pretty late and when we came home I had had WAY to much wine as I had a hard time getting my cloths changed for bed.

Monday February 4 2013

Wanda, next door, gave me a name of a hairdresser here in the foothills, to call for an appointment . I called this morning as both Wanda and I need a haircut badly. When I tried to make appointment, the first I could get was more than two weeks away. I decided to go to Yuma to Master Cuts to get a haircut. Larry and I both had haircuts there last year.

We drove into Yuma and picked up some items at Sam's, had lunch at Five Guys--which was lousy, and went over to Master Cuts. We waited almost 45 minutes to get in and both got our hair cut. I really liked the way my gal cut my hair so was happy we decided to go there today as my hair has been driving me crazy. The things I hate about being away from home is finding someone that can cut my hair and finding a decent place to do my nails. I have an excellent nail tech at home that does my gel polish and it's hard finding anyone else to please me.

We decided to look for a small printer for the motor home. We looked at an HP at Sam's that was pretty cheap but when we talked to one of the employees about it, he pointed out that the replacement ink cartridges cost more than the printer! Good point made by him. He said we should try to find a Kodak as they make compact printers and the cartridges are much cheaper to replace. He told us that Sam's carry them but they were out of stock and wasn't sure how long before they would get more.

We stopped at Staples to check on the Kodak but they did not carry them. We were going to stop a few more places but it was getting late and we decided to come home and check around maybe tomorrow.

When we got home, Dan was at the neighbor's on the other side of us drinking his beer and talking. I told Larry he was desperate to find someone to talk to since we were not home. We really enjoy Dan and Wanda and they are here almost every afternoon around 4:30 to talk and drink. When we got everything carried in to RV, Dan came over and talked awhile and Wanda stopped for a short time but they had not had dinner yet so left to eat.

Leslie is still having problems with shortness of breath and now she is having hot flashes so bad she wakes up soaked several times a night. She went to work this morning and started perspiring so badly and her legs were shaky so she called doctor. He had her come in at 1:00 and sent her for another chest xray and blood work. He prescribed her a hormone to take at bed time, something for the chest discomfort and a prescription for anxiety. She is planning to take another day off work to try to rest and feel better.

Was another beautiful day and got pretty hot in afternoon. We have not turned the air conditioner on yet but there are times during the day that we almost break down and run it for awhile. Luckily the cats love the heat!

Sunday February 3 2013

We had a few sprinkles of rain early this morning and the sky looked like we could have rain for the day. It was cloudy for most of the morning but clouds broke up and the sun came out and ended up being another beautiful day. Wanda, our next door neighbor, was walking Zak, the dog, this morning and stopped to talk for awhile. Zak is such a nice little guy and he really has become my buddy as he loves to set on my lap when they stop by. Dan came over and Larry came out to patio and we all had our coffee and talked for quite awhile. They are from B.C., Canada and we really enjoy visiting with them.

I showered and picked up junk around RV while Larry made a trip to Fry's to get dry cat food for the guys. We ran out last night and their world is close to coming to and end without their food. Everything revolves around eating for these two!

We sat around most of the day and worked Sudoku and Crossword puzzles. Ken Jackson has a Sudoku Puzzle in his hand all the time. He loves working them but I have never been good at trying to figure them out. By the end of the afternoon I started getting the knack of doing them. My friend Cathy is also a fan of Sudoku and I always wondered how she could enjoy them so much but I found they are additive!

Larry grilled himself a steak and Salmon for me for dinner. We ate early so we could watch the Superbowl. Dan came over and he and Larry watched game and Wanda and I sat on patio and talked until the light went out in Baltimore and they had a break in the game. Wanda and Dan went home and then Dan came back when the game resumed and stayed until it was over.

Wanda gave me a phone number for a hairdresser here in the foothills that a friend told her about. I REALLY need a haircut and Wanda wants to get a cut as well so tomorrow I'm going to try to make an appointment for both of us to go tomorrow or Tues.

I assume Leslie is feeling better as I haven't talked to her lately. She is due to go back to work tomorrow.  I talked to her Friday and she was just very tired. She had a very stressful week so hopefully she is ready for the rat race tomorrow!

Saurday February 2 2013

I changed sheets and started laundry early this morning. Also decided to clean a little as we track sand into the motor home constantly. I am so glad we have tile on the floors as it is so much easier to keep clean. The old motor home had a great amount of carpet which never works well when living in the dessert.

After a shower, I walked up to Ken and Judy's to find out where they are on receiving their money for the new park model they are buying. When I got there Judy and Jan were at the club house for a home owners meeting. Ken and I sat outside and talked for awhile and I asked him if I could borrow his tire pump as my bike tires are pretty low on air. He dug out the pump and walked back home with me and aired up my tires. Larry came out and we all sat and talked for awhile. Ken is such a terrific guy that we love visiting with him.

The weather is to be pretty warm today. Forecast calling for high 70's or low 80's. It has steadily warmed all week and we have had beautiful days since we have been here.

We got ready and went to the Indoor Flea Market in Yuma to look around. Bought a few small items and then drove down to Old Town where they were having Mardri Gras celebration. We decided to eat at Lutes Casino which we had been to last year. It is a very unique old tavern with lots of crazy things on the walls and ceiling. There was a very short wait to get in to eat today, which is very unusual. Last year I think we waited for quite sometime to get a table. There doesn't seem to be a large crowd this year at Mardi Gras and not as many vendors.

We had lunch and walked back outside to listen to the entertainment. They have three stages going at once but the only one we took time to listen to was a couple of guys who sang country very well. We walked around for awhile and didn't find much of interest so we left for home.

We drank two pitchers of beer at Lutes so by the time we got home we were both ready for a little siesta. I laid down and slept for probably an hour. We each scrounged our own dinner as again the cook is on strike today!

Since we had our little nap, we didn't go to bed until after 11::00 so hopefully the cats can wait a reasonable time tomorrow for their morning food!

Friday February 1 2013

After getting my shower this morning I walked up to take a book to Jan that she wanted to read. When I got there Judy and Ken were leaving to go to the bank again to try to find out what has happened to the money their bank in Canada wired to the Yuma Bank. They have really had a frustrating week trying to get money from their Canadian account to finish the purchase of the park model they bought here in the resort. I visited with Jan for an hour or more. I love all three of these people as they have seemed like family since the day we met.

Came back to RV and helped Larry put up the sunscreen on our outdoor awning. We bought stakes at the flea market yesterday to hold the tie down straps on the awning and the sunscreen but were short on the number we bought.

We went to Al's RV as they are having a sale today and we wanted to buy roof covers for our roof fans. Al's was packed with customers and when we finally found someone to help us we found they only had one in stock. The salesman told us they would get more in on Wednesday and we could still get them at the sale price. We put in our name and will go back Wednesday to pick up.

We went back to the flea market to buy more stakes for the sunscreen and then stopped at Walmart to pick up groceries. While we were out, we went ahead and ate our lunch/dinner since we had not eat today. So another lucky day that I do not have to cook dinner!

When we got to the resort we stopped to check our mail and found our passports that Larry's sister sent earlier this week. Thank Goodness we received them without a problem.

We came home and Dan and Wanda, our new neighbors came over for a beer and we sat out on the patio and visited. We had not met Wanda yet and she was very nice and we really enjoyed visiting.

The weather was perfect today and the temperature was around 76. The weekend is suppose to be more of the same. Tomorrow is the Mardri Gras down in Old Town Yuma. We went last year and they had great entertainment and food. Hopefully we will get time to go down for awhile tomorrow.

Leslie called early this morning and got us out of bed. She always forgets that our time is an hour earlier than home. She is feeling a little better this morning and said she was up several times to the bathroom, which means she must be starting to eliminate the fluid on her own.

Pete was gone to take the dogs to 'doggy daycare'. They love going, especially in the winter when they do not get out much. Leslie said the dogs were both so excited to get home last night. Memo was staying with Pete's sister, Mary, and Ava was staying with his brother Pascal.

We went to the flea market in Yuma today. We found a few items to spend our money on as usual. I found Mr. Snodgrass, the man who sells the Jojoba oil that I depend on while here for my excessively dry skin. I bough a large bottle for $35. It is not cheap but really moisturizes my skin. It can also be used on my hair, which also suffers from the dry air while here.

We had lunch at In-and-Out Burger. I think we have both decided that their are better choices for hamburgers. In the past several years we have enjoyed the burgers but either our taste has changed or the burgers have.

When we came home from the flea market, we saw we have a new neighbor. A 5th Wheel is parked on our patio side of RV. We no longer have our private little spot! Judy came down to visit and while she was here, Dan, the owner of the 5th Wheel, came over to introduce himself. We sat on the patio and drank beer and talked for a long time. It is a small world because he knew exactly where Judy lives as he has a friend who live very close to them, He also remembered going to the grocery store that Judy, Ken and Jan owned. They sat and talked about mutual friends they both know. Dan and his wife are Canadian and are from Alberta.

The weather today was beautiful. It got up to 69 degrees and when we came back to the motor home after being gone all day, it was quite warm inside. I think the cats enjoy the heat as they were both sacked out and dead to the world. They have such a simple life!

I called Jan and Jerry Twedell tonight since we haven't talked to them much. Jan sent me an email earlier this week which I made a long reply to and when I sent it for some reason it did not send. I figured I would call rather than set and type the stupid reply again! I sometimes get crazy with technology!

We had dinner and after cleaning up the mess, I felt really tired so I went to bed early and read for awhile. These 5:00 mornings are catching up with me as I seem to be ready for bed earlier each night,
